Understanding CSVTU Revaluation (RV) & Retotaling (RT) Process
Last updated: June 2026
If your exam results are lower than expected, or if you failed a subject by just a few marks, CSVTU provides two lifeline options: Revaluation (RV) and Retotaling (RT). This guide explains the difference between the two and when you should apply for them.
1. What is Retotaling (RT)?
In Retotaling, your answer sheet is NOT re-evaluated. The examiner simply checks if there was any calculation error in totaling your marks on the front page, or if any answer was left unchecked.
- Fees: It is significantly cheaper than Revaluation.
- When to apply: Only apply if you suspect a gross calculation error (e.g., expecting 60 but getting 10).
2. What is Revaluation (RV)?
In Revaluation, your entire answer sheet is evaluated from scratch by a different professor. Your previous marks are hidden to ensure unbiased checking.
- Who can apply: You can generally apply for RV for a maximum of 2 subjects per semester.
- What happens to the marks: Marks can increase, decrease, or remain unchanged. Usually, the marks are only updated if the difference is more than 10% of the total marks.
3. How to Apply?
RV/RT forms open on the Digivarsity portal just a few days after the result declaration. You need to log in to your student account, select the subjects, and pay the fee online. Note: Forms are strictly not accepted after the deadline.
Should you take the risk?
If you are failing by just 3-4 marks and are confident in your answers, you should definitely apply for RV. Many students successfully clear their backlogs through Revaluation!
