1. Minimum Passing Marks (35% Rule)

For most undergraduate courses like B.Tech, CSVTU follows a strict 35% minimum passing criteria for End Semester Exams (ESE).

80 Marks Paper: You need at least 28 marks to pass.
100 Marks Paper: You need at least 35 marks to pass.

Important: This 35% rule applies strictly to the theory exam (ESE) separately. Your Class Test (CT) and Teacher's Assessment (TA) marks are counted separately, but you must clear the ESE threshold to pass the subject.

2. How Grace Marks Work

CSVTU does provide a safety net for students who narrowly miss the passing mark in one or two subjects. The general rules for grace marks are:

A maximum of up to 3 grace marks can be awarded in a single subject if it helps you clear that subject.
Alternatively, you can get a total of up to 5 grace marks split across multiple subjects (e.g., 2 in Math and 3 in Physics).
Grace marks are automatically applied by the university system when calculating your final result. They will appear with a specific notation on your mark sheet.

3. Practical Exams

Unlike theory exams, practical exams generally require a 50% passing mark. Because internal assessments heavily influence practicals, it is crucial to submit all assignments and attend labs regularly.
